Job description

Devcore Group is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator. This individual will serve as a key resource to ensure a safe working environment at our Gatineau construction site. They will work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities to enforce current standards and promote a proactive prevention culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as the safety lead for workers on construction sites.
  • Participate in the development, updating, and implementation of site-specific prevention programs.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement or recommend effective mitigation measures.
  • Conduct daily worksite inspections.
  • Ensure all workers are aware of the risks associated with their tasks.
  • Receive accident reports and conduct investigations as needed in the event of actual or potential incidents.
  • Accompany CNESST inspectors during their site visits.
  • Plan and coordinate prevention activities with subcontractors.
  • Organize, lead, and follow up on safety meetings and site committee gatherings.
  • Manage administrative follow-ups in compliance with internal procedures.
  • Review and approve subcontractor prevention programs.
  • Thoroughly document all interventions and events related to health and safety.
  • Ensure the safety of individuals and property, and enforce health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with subcontractors and site partners
Candidate Profile
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Training in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in health and safety within the construction industry (ASP card required).
  • Hold a safety officer certificate for construction sites issued by the CNESST, as per the Safety Code for Construction Work (SCCW),
    OR
  • Hold a theoretical training certificate for Health and Safety Coordinators of at least 240 hours issued by the CNESST or by a CNESST-recognized organization

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Good knowledge of CNESST regulations and best prevention practices.
  • Strong observational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Leadership, discipline, autonomy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate diplomacy in a fast-paced environment.
