Job Description

Our client, located in Toronto, is seeking a Health and Safety (H&S) Advisor to oversee safety practices on a construction site. The role involves managing safety protocols, training, and safety management plans for construction projects.

Job Duties
  1. Provide leadership to onsite employees.
  2. Conduct H&S orientation for new hires.
  3. Perform daily inspections and address unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  4. Monitor H&S statistics, identify trends, report promptly, and develop action plans for improvement.
  5. Participate in safety programs and initiatives.
  6. Facilitate daily/weekly safety meetings for the site team.
  7. Support workplace inspections, audits, and competency checks.
  8. Administer site-specific safety training, including procedures and practices.
  9. Ensure timely reporting and investigation of incidents.
  10. Promote continuous safety improvements.
  11. Participate in responding to workplace incidents or emergencies.
  12. Analyze corrective actions from investigations and maintain an up-to-date corrective action log.
  13. Lead or assist with incident investigations.
  14. Review safety documentation, perform gap analysis, and recommend improvements.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • CSO / NCSO designation is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of experience as an H&S advisor on a construction site.
  • Knowledge of Ontario safety laws, codes, and standards.
  • Strong self-management, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
