We’re hiring a Head Staff Cook to join our world-class team at Sonora Resort, a luxury all-inclusive Relais & Châteaux property, located in the unspoiled wilderness of British Columbia. Nestled in the Discovery Islands, Sonora Resort is accessible by water taxi from Campbell River on Vancouver Island. This is a seasonal, on-site position requiring shift work. We seek a start date as soon as possible, with a commitment through the full season.

Position Summary

The Head Staff Cook is responsible for preparing 70-90 staff meals daily during the operational season, managing a team of three, and maintaining an organized, clean kitchen. During the off-season, the role involves preparing 10-30 staff meals independently, with similar standards and administrative duties.

Job Duties
  • Set expectations and ensure team adherence to service standards aligned with Relais & Châteaux.
  • Receive, clean, and store incoming products per standards.
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning tasks to standard.
  • Maintain workstations to chef standards.
  • Prepare scratch-made lunches and dinners, including vegetarian and special dietary options.
  • Provide snacks and sandwich bar for staff.
  • Assist with scheduling, ordering, and receiving supplies.
  • Participate in cleaning the kitchen after service.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues and departments.
  • Perform administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Fluent in English; second language is an asset.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Current Food Safe Certificate.
  • Culinary Arts Level 1, 2, or 3; Red Seal is an asset.
  • At least three years of cooking experience; resort experience preferred.
  • One year of supervisory experience required.
