Job summary

BuildOps, Inc. is seeking a Director of Engineering, Data to lead our unified Data & AI engineering function.

You will own the platforms, pipelines, quality standards, and operating discipline that power AI and ML products, reporting to the VP of Engineering. This foundational role will shape BuildOps' data strategy over the next three to five years and scale a team from early scrappiness to operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data or software engineering with team-building experience.
• Experience with modern data platforms and cloud warehouses.
• Proven ability to hire, grow leaders, and lead through managers.
• Production ML data systems and data governance experience.

Responsibilities

• Own data platform and architecture end to end.
• Build scalable data onboarding capabilities.
• Run production-grade data systems with SLAs and alerts.
• Develop data foundation for AI/ML products.
• Establish governance with access controls and data contracts.
• Hire and lead a data engineering team and establish rhythms.
