BuildOps, the leading data-driven software company for commercial contractors, seeks a Director of Engineering, Data. You will own the data platform, pipelines, quality, and governance to power AI/ML products and ensure trusted data as the system of record.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will shape the data strategy for the next 3–5 years and scale a team from early-stage scrappiness to operational excellence. Hybrid work with hubs in LA, SF, Toronto, and Raleigh.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data or software engineering with scale-up or growth experience.
• Hands-on with modern data platforms (cloud warehouse/lakehouse).
• Experience building data systems for production ML use cases.
• Proven leadership of 10+ engineers and managers.
• Strong governance, reliability, and security practices.
• Ability to align data strategy with business goals.

Responsabilités

• Own data platform and architecture end to end, incl. ML/streaming strategy.
• Build scalable data onboarding for customers and partners.
• Run production-grade data systems with monitoring and SLAs.
• Create data foundations for AI/ML products with proper inputs.
• Establish governance, access controls, and data contracts.
• Hire and lead a high-performing data engineering team.
