Job summary

Cover Genius is building a data-driven future in Vancouver. We’re hiring a senior leader to design and run Data Operations & Analytics, bridging business questions and technical data teams. You’ll own metrics, governance, and internal BI, guiding two teams and shaping data strategy across the organization.

You’ll work with actuaries, product, and engineering to drive AI adoption, automate workflows, and deliver trusted insights that power decision-making at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data or reporting operations, including 4+ years leading managers.
• Experience fixing unclear ownership and accountability gaps across technical and business teams.
• Fluency in modern data stacks; dbt, BigQuery, semantic layers, BI tools.
• Experience defining metrics and governance, ownership and location of numbers in multi-team environments.
• Comfortable presenting to C-suite and cross-functional leadership on data strategy and risk.
• Insurance, insurtech, fintech, or other regulated, data-heavy industries are a plus.
• Experience building a roadmap with dependencies across teams and disciplined execution.
• Experience running cross-team coordination with clear owners and closed items.

Responsibilities

• Own Data Operations & Analytics function and two teams.
• Define semantic layer metrics and source of truth; gain business sign-off.
• Governance framework for metrics, ownership and change control.
• Own internal BI tool end-to-end and drive enterprise adoption.
• Merchant & Partner Reporting: accuracy, reconciliation, and regulatory reporting.
• Translate business OKRs into accurate, trusted data tracking.
• Drive data, AI, and automation to reduce manual work.
• Develop and mentor a multi-level data team.
