Job summary

Ontario Public Service is seeking a dynamic fundraising professional to join the External Relations/Partnerships and Development team in Toronto. You will lead corporate fundraising, identify prospects, create persuasive materials, and manage a donor portfolio to drive the major campaign.

Make a meaningful impact through fundraising

Join our team as we prepare for a major fundraising campaign to support the new Ontario Science Centre at Ontario Place. You will play a key role in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of corporate donors to support the new building and ongoing programming offered by the Centre.

About the job

Reporting to the Director, Partnerships and Development, you will:

  • plan and execute corporate fundraising strategy to support annual revenue and the major fundraising campaign
  • identify prospects and build pipelines
  • prepare persuasive and inspiring fundraising materials and communications
  • solicit corporate donors and manage portfolio of donors ($25,000+)
  • create a stewardship strategy to nurture long-term corporate donor relationships and ongoing engagement
  • research, write and secure government grants at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels
What you bring to the team
Fundraising knowledge and experience
  • experience working with corporate donors, managing prospects and developing strategies for securing gifts and sponsorships of $25,000 or more, ideally within arts, cultural, or educational institutions
  • initiative and creativity to identify gift opportunities and tailor approaches to meet corporate donor interests
  • experience engaging new corporate prospects through research, prospect identification, and personal engagement, with experience creating and executing solicitation plans
  • grant writing experience and experience in securing federal, provincial and municipal grants
  • knowledge of major gift, individual, and community fundraising practices, with knowledge of research, cultivation and engagement practices
Relationship management and communication skills
  • oral communication skills to interact with board members, senior level volunteers, senior management and staff
  • written communication skills and attention to detail to create proposals, cultivation and solicitation documents and stewardship communications that highlight the impact of corporate support
  • presentation, negotiation and relationship management skills to engage with corporate donors, prospects and volunteers
  • collaboration and consultation skills to promote cooperation and provide excellent customer service
Donor relations and program leadership skills
  • set and manage priorities and ensure goals are met, including developing corporate giving programs and related activities
  • research and develop stewardship plans to cultivate new and existing supporters
  • lead program operations, including donor identification and solicitation, corporate relations programs and develop and implement administrative procedures and systems
  • plan, execute and evaluate strategies and materials to attract and secure corporate donors and deliver programs
  • demonstrate analytical, problem solving and organizational skills, with experience overseeing fundraising systems and the ability to evaluate activities and results
