Job summary

Hino Central in Edmonton is recruiting a Heavy-Duty Technician Journeyman or Automotive Technician Journeyman to join our growing team. You will diagnose faults, repair and maintain heavy vehicles, and contribute to safety and efficiency in a high-performance shop.

We value teamwork, craftsmanship, and a commitment to helping fleets stay on the road. Red-Seal preferred; valid licenses and Cummins experience are assets. Based in Edmonton, join a leading Driving Force Group company.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Technician or Truck & Transport Mechanic qualification required.
• Red-Seal Certification preferred.
• CVIP/MVI license (or eligible to obtain).
• Class 5 Provincial driver’s license required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safety of yourself and team.
• Cummins experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of trucking industry, OEM dealer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess work orders and diagnose faults using vehicle inspection and test drives.
• Dismantle faulty assemblies; repair or replace worn parts.
• Reassemble, adjust and test components after service.
• Perform scheduled maintenance (oil changes, lubrications, tune-ups).
• Document repairs and future maintenance needs clearly.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and participate in safety meetings.
• Assist in safety investigations and contribute to efficiency improvements.
• Support development of Heavy-Duty Technician apprentices.

What You’ll Do:

• Assess work orders, diagnose faults and malfunctions by examining the vehicle, using testing equipment, and carrying out test drives.
• Dismantle faulty assemblies and repair or replace worn or damaged parts.
• Reassemble, adjust and test new or repaired components.
• Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
• Provide detail about repairs so others understand what work has been done, on general vehicle conditions, and future repair requirements.
• Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis.
• Contribute to safety and efficiency by participating in safety meetings and incident investigations.
• Help develop Heavy-Duty Technician apprentices.

What You’ll Bring:

• Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Technician or Truck & Transport Mechanic trade qualification is required.
• Red-Seal Certification is preferred.
• Valid CVIP/MVI license (or qualifies to obtain one).
• A minimum of a valid class 5 Provincial driver’s license.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• Cummins experience is an asset.
• Good all‑round knowledge of the trucking industry, part of your experience preferably being with an OEM affiliated dealer.
