Shannex Incorporated is seeking a Dietary Aide for the Caritas Residence in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The role focuses on delivering high-quality meals, following dietary requirements and ensuring a pleasant dining experience for residents.

You will work with a supportive team within a respected healthcare organization that offers growth opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package. Bilingual skills and food safety certification are valued assets.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Proof of Food Safety Certification required.
• Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Experience in a kitchen setting is considered an asset.
• Previous experience in working with the elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment is an asset.
• Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
• First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Consistently ensures food quality, presentation, and service delivery meet established department standards.
• Follows production sheets to guide food preparation and assist with cost control.
• Stays up to date with the specific needs of each resident (diet restrictions, allergies, special requests).
• Assists with checking and receiving deliveries and inventory control; stores and rotates supplies.
• Maintains kitchen cleanliness and organization; reports equipment issues to the manager.
• Participates in incident reporting and coordinates with maintenance for repairs.
