Job description

Job Position: Customs Specialist (Temporary, 6 Months)

This role involves processing low value (LVS) shipments in accordance with Canadian Customs regulations and other government legislation. The primary focus is on commercial shipments, providing accurate information and assistance to customers regarding international shipments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Educational Requirements

Post-secondary diploma or equivalent from a community college.

Professional Certification

Canadian Customs Specialist or CSCB qualification, with ongoing maintenance of CCS designation and annual re-currency points.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience (preferably with FedEx) in Canadian Customs Regulations related to international operations.

Other Mandatory Experience

• Ability to lift 70 lbs and maneuver packages up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment, especially at specified ports (YQG, YOW, YEG, YWG, YYC, YMX).
• Bilingual in English and French required if located in Quebec.

Technical Skills

• Strong mathematical and computer skills.
• Knowledge of customs rules and regulations.

Computer Proficiency

• Knowledge of clearance systems preferred.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Typing speed of at least 25 wpm preferred.

Additional Notes

This is a temporary assignment for up to 6 months, with shift timings from Sunday 08:00-16:30 and Monday-Thursday 11:00–19:30. Local post available to current YYZR GTS employees. The job was posted on 5/8/2025 and unposted on 5/15/2025 at 3:00 pm local time.
