Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Grounds Person to support crews on ground work, site setup and safety.

You will assist climbers and trimmers, perform groundwork, operate chainsaw and chipper, and help with debris removal, with travel to out-of-town sites 5+ weeks.

Full-time year-round position with wages of $20-$24 per hour, benefits, RRSP/TFSA, stock purchase after 6 months, and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years arboriculture experience required.
• Willing to work out of town 5+ weeks at a time.
• Valid provincial driver’s license; 5-ton license and air brake endorsement considered an asset.
• Willingness to work toward becoming a certified arborist.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and to learn and progress.

Position Overview

As a Grounds Person you will be working to support the operations above; you will play an important part in both site set up and assistance to both climbers and trimmers. You will play a vital role in the safe execution of work for our crews and members of the public or clients. This role will provide newcomers to the tree industry with a better understanding of what we do at Davey and provide the right individuals with a career advancement opportunities and training.
