Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Mississauga is seeking a new graduate Structural Engineering Trainee to support the Furnace Group within the Technology Business Unit. You will work under supervision to deliver structural design tasks for furnaces and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on global projects.

The ideal candidate is graduating in 2027 or recently with a BASc/BEng in Civil/Structural engineering and is eligible for EIT registration. Travel to project sites, including remote ones, may be required.

Qualifications

  • Must be graduating in 2027 or recently graduated with up to 2 years of work experience in heavy industry.
  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Be eligible for registration as an EIT with a provincial engineering body upon graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Overall environmental loading computations of furnace/equipment structures.
  • Structural design of the steel components of custom designed smelting furnaces.
  • Binding force analysis of the Hatch patented furnace binding system.
  • Assistance on 3D model preparation as well as drawings productions.
  • Close collaboration with process, mechanical and electrical engineers.
  • Client and site support, including vendor fabrication assistance.
