Job summary

Hatch in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) New Graduate to support heavy industrial building and equipment structure projects from our Saskatoon office. You will assist with calculations, analysis, and design while collaborating with the Structural Discipline Lead and other Hatch groups.

Qualifications

• Must be graduating in 2027 or recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering or a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering.
• Academic or work experience with structural software SAP2000 and/or STAAD.Pro, MathCAD, and Bentley MicroStation CAD software is an asset.
• Preferred courses include Structural Analysis, Structural Mechanics, Reinforced Concrete Design, Structural Steel Design; advanced courses include Structural Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Seismic Design.

Responsibilities

• Work independently to apply engineering principles to perform calculations for structural analysis and design of industrial buildings and equipment support structures and foundations.
• Collaborate with senior discipline members and Hatch groups to share results.
• Prepare calculation reports to support analysis and design for internal and external stakeholders.
• Become knowledgeable of structural analytical software, building codes, material design codes, and discipline workflows.
• Travel to other Hatch offices or project sites as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Work independentlytoapply engineering principles toperformcalculations forstructuralanalysisand designof industrialbuilding and equipment support structures and foundations
• Workcollaboratively to share the results of yourworkwith senior members of thedisciplineand / or otherHatchgroups
• Preparecalculation reports to support the resultsof your analysisand design,to be checked by senior colleagues and used tosupportengineeringdocumentsto beusedby internal and external stakeholders
• Becomeknowledgeableofstructural analytical software and tools, building codes and material design codes,discipline workflows and execution, process building and equipment structureand foundationsystems, and other industrial components / processesyou are assigned toassess
• Participate inoffice and sitesafety training andinductions as needed to supportoffice andsite activities
• Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices orproject work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise

Education and Experience:

• Must be working towards graduating in 2027, or recently graduated,with aBachelor’s degreein Civil Engineeringwithspecialization in Structural Engineeringor Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
• Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
• Preferred academic coursesincludeStructuralAnalysis, Structural Mechanics,ReinforcedConcreteDesign,Structural Steel Design, Foundation Design
• Preferred advanced courses includeStructural Dynamics,Finite Element Analysis, Seismic Design
• Previousrelevantcoopandsummer work terms or internships in structural engineeringis an asset
