The Office of the Dean & AVP Graduate, Faculty of Graduate Studies is a body of Senate, with an embedded Centre of Excellence that supports graduate functions on behalf of resource Faculties, across York University. The Office of the AVP Graduate & Dean promotes and enhances the quality of graduate education, postdoctoral activities, fosters excellence in teaching and research and is responsible for the implementation of graduate regulations across all campuses. The Faculty of Graduate Studies and its Graduate Centre of Excellence serves close to 100 graduate programs and diplomas in all resource Faculties, that house more than 6,000 students, the largest body of researchers on campus. Service is supported through four Service Catalogs. The Graduate Admission Assessor role is a key of the Admissions & Document Processing team providing timely, accurate and holistic assessment of applicant records in support of the University's strategic enrolment goals. In advancing the FGS' vision as â??Partners in Student Success', the Admissions Assessor will analyze, interpret, research, and evaluate academic credentials for admission to York University's graduate programs. according to approved Faculty and Senate guidelines. The role is a subject matter expert on graduate admission policies, in addition to Canadian and international education systems and curriculum. The role serves as a point of contact for Graduate Programs and other partners across the University in supporting service excellence. This Graduate Admissions Assessor role plays a key role in the successful transition of students to York University and requires a student-focused professional. The role demonstrates a commitment to service excellence by treating members of the community with care, valuing their time, striving for personal best, and collaborating to improve service experiences for all.
College diploma or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
2 years' recent experience assessing information (e.g. applications/ transcripts/records/reports/data) and applying regulatory guidelines to determine a course of action/ advising/counselling and answering detailed enquiries in a student service or comparable client service-oriented operation.
