Job summary

Grouse Mountain is seeking Winter Mountain & Attractions Crew for the Winter 26/27 season. You will support daily operations of winter attractions (Ice Rink, Fire Pit, Sliding Zone, Sleigh Ride, Light Walk) under supervision.

Role involves outdoor work in all weather, heavy lifting, and assisting with events and guest service. Opportunities include training and development within Mountain Operations.

Qualifications

• Ice rink experience an asset.
• Valid driver's license (Class 5).
• Experience with customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Strong mechanical aptitude an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate snow grooming machine, ice surface maintenance vehicle, sleigh and snow removal machines.
• Hand shovel ice surface, boardwalk, firepit and surrounding areas.
• Remove snow from rooftops.
• Build and maintain outdoor fire pit.
• Set up and maintain sliding zone area with safety fencing and signs.
• Maintain attraction areas with shoveling, ice picking and fencing/ signage resets.
• Perform daily inspections of areas around Blue Grouse Lake & Light Walk.
• Follow Grouse Mountain vehicle safety procedures.
• Inspect safety of machines, vehicles and ice rink equipment.
• Report unsafe acts to supervisor.
• Assist guests and deliver high level customer service.
• Assist with setup/teardown of special events.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Winter Attractions Crew member, you are responsible for the daily operations of the mountain's winter attractions including; the Ice Rink, Fire Pit, Sliding Zone, Sleigh Ride, Light Walk and other seasonal attractions. Under direct supervision from the Mountain Crew Supervisor and Mountain Operations Duty Manager, the Winter Attractions Crew assist other departments with manual tasks, clean up and tear-down, transport, fences, snow removal and on occasion are expected to assist with line control and other guest related duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Operating various machines & vehicles including snow grooming machine, ice surface maintenance vehicle (Zamboni), sleigh and snow removal machines
• Hand shoveling ice surface, boardwalk, firepit and surrounding areas
• Removing snow from roof tops
• Building and maintaining a fire in an outdoor fire pit
• Set up and maintenance of sliding zone area (i.e. installing safety fencing, signs etc.)
• Maintaining attraction areas with shoveling, ice picking, re-sets of fencing and signage
• Performing daily inspections and maintenance of areas surrounding Blue Grouse Lake & Light walk
• Following all Grouse Mountain vehicle safety procedures
• Performing safety inspections on machines, vehicles and ice rink compressor systems
• Performing safety inspections of all attraction areas
• Reporting any unsafe acts, concerns or procedures to Operations Manager or Supervisor
• Assisting guests and ensuring the highest level of customer service
• Assisting with set up and tea down of special events
• Assisting the skate and snowshoe rental department
• Other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports directly to the Mountain Crew Supervisor and Mountain Operations Duty Manager, with no direct supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

• Ice rink experience an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS

Winter Attractions Crew perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions. Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$19.55 to $22.87/hour
