Job summary

Ebury Toronto Office is seeking a Commercial Legal Counsel to guide Canada and US matters within a fast-growing fintech environment. You’ll draft, negotiate, and advise on commercial contracts, IP, and regulatory issues, while supporting corporate governance and cross-border initiatives.

The role sits in a hybrid team reporting to the Chief Legal Officer in London, offering a high-performance culture, mentorship, and significant exposure to global strategy.

Qualifications

• Law degree in Canada or the United States required.
• 1+5 years of qualified experience in a legal role preferred.
• Interest in fintech and financial products.
• Experience in a regulated company is desirable.
• Experience in the United States market is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and expansion into new markets, including US launch.
• Draft and negotiate third-party contracts, IP licensing, and real estate reviews.
• Advise on corporate structuring to support a global footprint.
• Manage day-to-day legal matters in Canada and the USA; support global team.
• Support financial services regulatory matters across Canada and the US.
• Oversee governance and entity maintenance for North American entities.
• Manage external counsel and assist disputes team as needed.
• Assist HR, Compliance and other departments with day-to-day queries.
