Job summary

Western Forest Products is seeking a GIS Developer Student to join our Corporate Timberlands Office in Campbell River, BC for Summer 2027. This role offers hands-on experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, web app development, and GIS administration in a collaborative IT environment.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in GIS/CS/IT programs or recent graduates with a interest in enterprise GIS, data management, and process improvement.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Previous GIS, software development, or co-op work term experience is considered an asset but is not required.

Responsibilities

Assist with the administration, configuration, optimization, and support of an ArcGIS Enterprise environment.
Create and support image and map services through performance monitoring, tuning, and usage analysis.
Assist in the development and enhancement of GIS applications using ArcGIS Enterprise technologies.
Create and maintain web maps, feature services, dashboards, and other GIS resources.
Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance activities for GIS solutions.
Prepare technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and user support materials.
Collaborate with IT and GIS teams to identify opportunities and implement improvements to enterprise GIS systems and business processes.
