Job summary

Fpbc in Golden, BC is seeking a motivated GIS Analyst to join our team of forest professionals. You will create, modify, maintain, display and troubleshoot GIS maps and databases for forestry projects in the Natural Resource sector, working closely with staff and clients.

Preferred qualifications include formal GIS education, at least two years of experience, and proficiency with Esri, QGIS, and mobile data collection.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in GIS with a Natural Resources/ Geography/ Computer Science background.
  • Minimum 2 years GIS experience on natural resource mapping projects.
  • Experience with Esri, QGIS and mobile data collection.
  • Experience using map series or automated map production methods.
  • Excellent data management and cartographic skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting, accuracy, and customer service focus.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.

Job description

DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated, positive and dependable full-timeGIS Analystto join our team of Forest Professionals in GOLDEN, BCAs a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining, displaying and troubleshooting GIS maps and databases for forestry-based projects in the Natural Resource sector.This role involves working closely with both staff and clients to complete a variety of GIS tasks to meet client deliverables. You will work as part of a team of GIS professionals on a range of projects, leveraging your GIS expertise and client interaction skills. A key aspect of this position is your eagerness to learn, adapt, and innovate in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties

The responsibilities of a GIS Analyst will include, but not limited to:

  • Spatial data management and analysis
  • Developing and delivering on operational mapping projects with tight timelines
  • Managing incoming field-collected data
  • Converting, importing, managing, and manipulating data from a variety of sources
  • Performing QA/QC tasks to ensure GIS data integrity
  • Using LRM
  • Troubleshooting issues related to GIS and web-based mapping systems
  • Maintenance and development of GIS infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal education in GIS, with a background in Natural Resources, Geography, or Computer Science
  • A minimum of two (2) years of GIS experience working on natural resource based mapping projects
  • Experience using Esri, QGIS, and mobile products for data collection, mapping, and analysis
  • Experience leveraging map series or other methods for automated map production
  • Excellent data management and cartographic skills
  • Strong reasoning and troubleshooting abilities, with attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
