Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a GIS co-op student to join our team. The role runs for 8 or 12 months with a May 2027 start, supporting sustainable development and environmental initiatives at our sites in western Canada.

You will build web maps, collect data with Field Maps and Survey123, and produce cartographic products while learning ArcGIS Pro and related Esri tools. This hands-on opportunity emphasizes mentorship and industry-ready skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in GIS, environmental sciences or related field.
• Ability to communicate complex GIS concepts clearly.
• Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Participate in health and safety programs to keep on-site teams safe.
• Support Sustainable Development / Environmental teams with GIS data.
• Develop web maps and data collection tools using Esri apps.
• Create visual cartography and automate GIS tasks with ArcGIS Pro.
• Maintain and support the site-wide GIS system.
• Assist with contractor support when needed.
• Propose innovative ideas to improve operations.
