Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a Fish Monitoring co-op/intern to support health, safety, and environmental programs in the Elk Valley. You will assist with field data collection, habitat mapping, and fish monitoring activities while gaining exposure to environmental management in a mining setting.

This role requires pursuing a Fisheries/Marine Biology/Environmental degree with field experience; a valid driver's license is essential, and the position offers hands-on learning, mentorship,

Qualifications

  • Pursuing undergraduate degree or diploma in Fisheries Management, Marine Biology or Environmental field.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.
  • Able to operate vehicles in diverse weather and terrain.
  • Willing to work outdoors and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
  • Oversee and support the Environmental Health and Safety Committee (EHSC) and field safety.
  • Update and manage environmental data and reporting in our EMS.
  • Coordinate project management tasks including contractor supervision and planning.
  • Update habitat photo catalogs and fish habitat maps.
  • Operate and maintain the Remote Camera Program across the Elk Valley.
  • Participate in fish collection activities and data recording.
  • Contribute ideas to improve business processes.
