Job summary

AgeCare is seeking an Occupational Therapist to assess function and adaptive behaviour, and to develop and implement treatment plans for residents in long-term care. You will support residents’ self-care, productivity and leisure needs with a person-centered approach.

The role requires a Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy and provincial registration. Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork are essential, with a focus on maintaining ethical standards and high-quality resident care.

Qualifications

• Must hold a good standing with the provincial regulatory board and CACOT.
• Degree in Occupational Therapy required; Rehabilitation Therapist Diploma acceptable.
• Strong verbal and written communication with diverse populations.
• Experience in continuing care/gerontology preferred.
• Advocating for the role of occupational therapy to improve residents’ lives.
• Compassion and empathy for others.
• Excellent organizational skills; two years of geriatric clinical experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team.
• Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one (within six months).

Responsibilities

• Oversees and participates in quality occupational therapy delivery for Resident care.
• Assess residents on admission and regularly; contribute to treatment plans.
• Assist with planning, goals, and communication across care teams.
• Implement therapy plans and involve residents in programs to meet goals.
• Document pertinent information related to therapy services.
• Ensure ethical, safe practice and compliance with licensure requirements.
