Job summary

Kontur Geotechnical Consultants Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Technician to join its Port Coquitlam, BC team. The role blends fieldwork and office tasks, offering opportunities to grow in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing.

Qualifications

• Geotechnical or Civil Engineering Technician/Technology Diploma from a recognized Technology program.
• Must have a reliable vehicle in good working condition, properly insured for business use, and a valid driver’s license.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills and strong leadership qualities.
• Must be available for shift work (day/night/weekends) and travel as needed.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and geotechnical software tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and executing geotechnical exploration assignments including test pits, boreholes, and site reconnaissance programs.
• Providing technical services in field, laboratory, and office environment.
• Performing geotechnical field review assignments on construction projects.
• Conducting on site testing of various materials on construction sites, compaction testing and testing of concrete and asphalt.
• Carrying out laboratory testing of construction materials to applicable standards.
• Assisting with data compilation, drafting, preparation of figures, and technical reporting.
• Preparing site plans, figures and drawings using AutoCAD and related software.
• Accountability for quality of product including reporting and construction reviews.
• Communicating with clients and sub-consultants and other stake holders as required.
