Job summary

GHD is seeking a Materials Technology technician to support field and laboratory testing for transport projects across Canada. You will join a team of engineers and technicians, performing site-based testing and laboratory work under supervision, with opportunities to contribute to road, infrastructure, and building design.

Ideal candidates have 3–7 years' experience, a civil/geotechnical tech diploma, and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil, Geotechnical, or related Engineering Technology.
• Registration with OACETT for C.Tech or C.E.T. designations is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
• Access to a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license to carry out site inspections.
• Willingness to travel up to 200 km per day.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site QA/QC testing for construction projects.
• Conduct field compaction testing during site grading and backfilling, including soil and aggregate sampling.
• Conduct field concrete and asphalt sampling and testing for building, road, and infrastructure projects.
• Assist with coordination and support field staff for investigative works including coring, testing, test pits, geotechnical drilling, and data collection.
• Laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, and concrete samples to determine engineering properties.
• Laboratory procedures may include Proctor, Atterberg limits, grain size, moisture content, and compressive strength testing.
