GEMTEC Consulting Engineers and Scientists Limited. in Saint John, NB, is seeking a hands-on Materials and Geotechnical Technician/Technologist to support field, lab, and office tasks for infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate has civil construction experience, performs material testing and sampling, and collaborates with engineers and project teams to keep work moving while ensuring accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
• Two years' civil construction experience.
• Experience with materials testing and inspection.
• Comfortable working independently and in a team.
• Strong multi-tasking, organization and planning skills.
• Able to lift 30–50 lbs regularly.
• Valid driver's license and vehicle for travel.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory testing of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
• Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
• a mix of office, laboratory, and field work on materials testing and geotechnical projects.
• Conduct construction surveys to support engineering projects.
• Work alongside engineers, technologists, and project teams to keep projects moving.
• Communicate project updates, milestones, and potential issues to clients in a clear and professional manner.
• Other duties as required; no two days look quite the same.

We currently have openings for Materials and Geotechnical Technician(s)/Technologist(s) in our Saint John office.

The ideal candidate has some experience in general construction, is comfortable moving between outdoor fieldwork and lab settings, and brings curiosity and attention to detail to everything they do.

What You’ll Bring:

• College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or a related field).
• Two years' experience in civil construction.
• Experience with materials testing and inspection.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Strong multi-tasking, organization, and planning skills.
• Comfortable lifting 30–50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle required for work-related travel.
