Vertex Resource Group Ltd. is seeking a Geotechnical & Materials Testing Technician to perform field and laboratory testing for geotechnical and construction materials projects.

The successful candidate will work with engineering and project management teams to complete field investigations, lab tests, and technical documentation while training on procedures, field equipment, and lab methods. The role involves physical field work, operating testing equipment, sampling soils, and documenting

Competenze

• Diploma in Civil/Geological/Environmental Technology or related science/engineering.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Clean driving record.
• Experience with geotechnical field investigations is an asset.
• Familiarity with geotechnical lab testing such as sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, moisture content.
• Experience with field density testing, concrete testing, and aggregate testing is an asset.
• Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and data collection systems.
• Ability to document subsurface conditions and maintain detailed field/lab records.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to perform physical field work outdoors.

Mansioni

• Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed.
• Soil sampling and logging during geotechnical investigations; field density testing, concrete sampling and testing.
• Laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete materials.
• Routine geotechnical laboratory testing (moisture content, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, Proctor compaction).
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Communicates information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
• Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.
• Follows safety rules and pre-task planning for projects.
• Occasional travel to project sites across Alberta.
• Performs other duties as needed.
