Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with a specialization in foundation design for its Kimberley office. This hybrid role combines on-site project engagement with the flexibility of remote work for analysis and reporting.

You will perform geotechnical investigations, develop detailed foundation designs for shallow and deep foundations, and prepare comprehensive reports while liaising with clients and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Geotechnical or Geotechnical-focused Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years in geotechnical engineering with emphasis on foundations.
• PE or Pr.Eng designation is highly desirable.
• Proficient in PLAXIS, GEO5, Slope/W software.
• Strong report writing and client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance.
• Analyze soil/rock mechanics and design foundations.
• Prepare foundation designs for shallow and deep foundations.
• Prepare geotechnical reports and design recommendations.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulators.

Our client, a reputable geotechnical and materials testing consultancy, is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer with a specialization in foundation design for their office in Kimberley . Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance and supervision of drilling operations.
• Perform analysis of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation design.
• Develop detailed foundation designs for shallow and deep foundations (e.g., strip footings, rafts, piles).
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports and foundation design recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to discuss project requirements and findings.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, including pile testing and foundation inspections.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and best practices.
• Assist in the development of proposals and business development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnics.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong focus on foundation design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Pr.Eng designation is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GEO5, Slope/W).
• Experience with site investigation techniques and equipment.
• Strong understanding of soil behavior and foundation engineering principles.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage project timelines and client relationships effectively.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
