Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead remote investigations and analyses for projects across South Africa, with a focus on the Northern Cape. This fully remote role leverages expertise in soil and rock mechanics to guide foundations, earthworks, and slope stability.

You will plan and oversee geotechnical site programs, interpret field and lab data, and provide design recommendations while mentoring a distributed team and ensuring QA/QC to the highest standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA.
• 8+ years of geotechnical site investigation and design experience.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Slide).
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Experience working effectively in a remote or distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and oversee geotechnical site investigation programs.

About the Role

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng).

• Proven ability to independently manage geotechnical investigation projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Slide).
• Excellent report writing, data interpretation, and technical communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in working effectively in a remote or distributed team environment.
• Strong understanding of South African geological conditions and relevant codes.
• Experience with projects in the Northern Cape region is an asset.
