Job summary

Stantec in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with 5–8 years of experience to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will develop cost-effective geotechnical designs and construction solutions, acting as a technical resource for the project team.

Responsibilities include leading field investigations, coordinating lab testing, preparing proposals and reports, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring quality and safety across transportation, residential, and industrial projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer in good standing with provincial association or ability to obtain the professional designation.
• 5–8 years of geotechnical consulting experience.
• Experience with Ministry of Transportation projects is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Work on projects spanning transportation, residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, staffing, and schedules for proposal preparation.
• Managing geotechnical investigations, including field coordination with subcontractors, laboratory testing schedule preparation, documentation of results, and budget management.
• Supervising field staff working on fieldwork and testing, including borehole drilling, test pit supervision, and slope stability assessments.
• Preparing proposals and geotechnical reports.
