Job summary

JLP Services Inc. is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Coordinator in Guelph, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of geotechnical field experience in southwestern Ontario and a Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering. Qualifications

Job description

JLP Services Inc. is currently seeking a Junior Geotechnical Coordinator.

JLP provides Geotechnical Services including investigation, materials testing & inspection, instrumentation & monitoring, shoring, excavation & monitoring, and foundation recommendations. This role requires minimum 2‑4 years of local southwestern Ontario experience.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct field investigations, including borehole layout, utility clearances, supervision of drill rigs/excavators, logging boreholes & test pits, and surveying.
  • Perform construction site reconnaissance, observations, and inspections (footing, subgrade, retaining wall).
  • Review soil & rock samples, coordinate geotechnical lab testing, and compile test results and borehole logs.
  • Analyze and model slope stability, settlement, foundation design, soil retaining structures, and other geotechnical challenges.
  • Prepare Geotechnical Investigation Reports, Technical Memos, Scope of Work, Client Communication, and business development documentation.
  • Train and mentor junior employees.
Qualifications
  • CCIL Certifications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical (Civil or Geological) Engineering (Master’s degree is an asset).
  • 2‑4 years of local southwestern Ontario field experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational & critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Understanding of materials testing & inspection, road reconstruction, rebar inspection, and general construction practices.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, gINT, Slide, AqteSolv, MS Office (AutoCAD preferred).
