Job summary

Engtec seeks a Geotechnical and Materials Engineer to lead its London, Ontario operations, directing engineering, laboratory, and field testing activities while driving business development and client relations across Southwestern Ontario.

The role requires a PE license in Ontario, a minimum of 10 years’ experience in geotechnical or related fields, and strong leadership, writing, and communication skills. A strategic, safety-conscious professional can advance our project portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, geological, or geotechnical engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, materials engineering, pavement engineering, construction inspection, or laboratory testing.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated project-management and staff-supervision experience.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and client-management skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable Ontario specifications, standards, and construction practices.
  • Established professional relationships within the London area and with local municipalities would be considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support laboratory and field staff.
  • Review technical reports, proposals, laboratory results, and engineering recommendations.
  • Ensure field and laboratory activities comply with applicable specifications, standards, and quality-management requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with municipal, consulting, construction, and private-sector clients.
  • Identify and pursue new project and business-development opportunities in London and the surrounding region.
  • Prepare proposals, work programs, budgets, and project schedules.
  • Monitor project costs, deliverables, and invoicing.
  • Coordinate with Engtec’s senior management and other offices to ensure projects are completed efficiently and within the required timelines.
  • Promote a professional, collaborative, and safety-conscious working environment.
