Job summary

Engtec seeks a Geotechnical and Materials Engineer to lead its London, Ontario team, overseeing technical operations, field and lab testing, and business development across Southwestern Ontario.

The role requires responsibility for staff supervision, report reviews, standards compliance, and building strong client relationships while delivering projects on schedule and within budget. A PE license in Ontario and 10+ years of experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, geological, or geotechnical engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, materials engineering, pavement engineering, construction inspection, or laboratory testing.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers of Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Lead the London office's daily technical and administrative operations and provide technical leadership for geotechnical, pavement, materials-testing, and construction-related projects.
• Supervise and support laboratory and field staff.
• Review technical reports, proposals, lab results, and engineering recommendations.
• Ensure field and laboratory activities comply with specifications, standards, and quality-management requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with municipal, consulting, construction, and private-sector clients.
• Identify and pursue new project and business-development opportunities in London and Southwestern Ontario.
• Prepare proposals, work programs, budgets, and project schedules.
• Monitor project costs, deliverables, and invoicing.
• Coordinate with senior management and other offices to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time.
• Promote a professional, collaborative, and safety-conscious working environment.

• Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers of Ontario.
• Demonstrated project-management and staff-supervision experience.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and client-management skills.
• Knowledge of applicable Ontario specifications, standards, and construction practices.
• Established professional relationships within the London area and with local municipalities would be considered a strong asset.
