Job summary

Irving Wallboard in Saint John, New Brunswick, is seeking a Student Geologist-in-training for the Gypsum Supply team during the 2027 Winter term. The role provides exposure to field mapping, sampling, and mining exploration activities on our gypsum operations.

You will work with our seasoned professionals, gain hands-on experience while returning to school, and travel around southern NB/NS with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a B.Sc or B.Eng program in earth sciences, geology, geological engineering, or civil engineering. Must be in good academic standing and returning to school.
• No prior geology or engineering experience required.
• At least 2 years of undergraduate experience.
• Must be in good academic standing.

• Assisting with field mapping and prospecting; traversing, data collection, rock sampling
• Assist with any core logging requirements; geotechnical logging of drill core, photography
• Assist environmental technicians with the collection of air and water monitoring samples

Irving Wallboard is currently seeking a Student Geologist-in-training for its Gypsum Supply team. The student will be working during the 2027 Winter term. Start and end dates are flexible.

Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Do you have an interest in mining and mineral exploration? Irving Wallboard, via Hammond River Holdings, explores for and mines gypsum to create wallboard at its Saint John manufacturing facility. With multiple mineral claims and mines, the student will be exposed to all aspects and stages of the mineral exploration and mining business. This position is based in Saint John, New Brunswick.
