Job summary

J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) Construction & Equipment Division invites engineering students to join as a Safety Student for a 4–8 month term beginning Winter 2027, based in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The role focuses on hands-on safety work, mentorship, and exposure to major construction operations across North America. You'll participate in projects with senior leaders, engage in Lean and project management training, and benefit from housing funding eligibility.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Engineering program
• Self-starter who is proactive, motivated, and ready to jump in
• Open to learning and growth; student status welcomed
• Interested in building project management and lean methodology skills
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple tasks
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Continuous improvement: contribute to a culture that embraces fresh ideas and better ways to do things
• Project management: learn how projects are planned and executed using real tools and processes
• Production planning: support scheduling and organization of production activities
• ERP & Analytics: gain hands-on experience with ERP systems and dashboards to uncover insights
