J.D. Irving, Limited in Saint John and Utopia, NB, invites Electrical Engineering students to join our Pulp & Paper Division for the Winter 2026 work term.

You'll work with mill teams and contractors on electrical projects, gaining hands-on experience inside a large, multi-disciplinary operation. This paid co-op focuses on developing detailed scopes, installations, and system maintenance; you will use AutoCAD, Excel, and PowerPoint, while prioritizing safety and professional growth in a dynamic,

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and in good academic standing.
  • Team player with a safety-first mindset.
  • Ability to effectively time manage multiple projects.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Long-term interest in an engineering career.

Responsibilities

  • Work with contractors and mill personnel to determine scope, planning and execution of work packages for mill operations.
  • Development of detailed scopes of work for installations related to scan card access systems, 120 V – 600 V temporary construction power, IT connections including wireless access points, switches, and cameras.
  • Work with software such as Auto CAD, PowerPoint, Excel, and other Document Management Software.
  • Oversee installations of low to medium voltage electrical equipment, building services components, instrumentation, etc., while ensuring schedule and budget are maintained and monitoring job quality and safety.
  • Assist Systems Engineers on maintenance, programming, and configuration of Mill Control Systems
