Job summary

Matrix is seeking a Regional General Manager to lead all departments in Yellowknife, NT. You will drive strategic direction, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and manage aviation operations, budgets, and stakeholder relations.

The role requires building a strong team, fostering a safety-first culture, and identifying growth opportunities while reporting on operational and financial performance to executive leadership.

Regional General Manager

Location: Yellowknife, NT
Type: Full-Time (Permanent)
Compensation: $130,000+ (commensurate with experience)

Leadership and Management
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to all departments and employees.
  • Establish and communicate organizational goals, objectives, and performance expectations.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain qualified personnel.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and safety-focused workplace culture.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Operational Oversight
  • Direct and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Company’s aviation activities.
  • Ensure operational efficiency, service quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement initiatives to improve productivity and profitability.
  • Coordinate resources, schedules, facilities, aircraft, and personnel to meet business objectives.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure the Company’s operations comply with all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Maintain compliance with Transport Canada regulations, Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), and all other applicable aviation requirements.
  • Support and promote the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and safety culture.
  • Ensure safety incidents, hazards, and compliance issues are appropriately addressed and reported.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews as required.
Financial Management
  • Develop, manage, and monitor operating budgets.
  • Oversee revenue generation, expense control, and financial performance.
  • Review financial reports and implement corrective measures where necessary.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Support the achievement of revenue, profitability, and business development objectives.
Customer and Stakeholder Relations
  • Maintain and develop relationships with customers, suppliers, regulators, airport authorities, strategic partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure high levels of customer service and client satisfaction.
  • Represent the Company in business and industry-related activities and meetings.
  • Manage customer concerns and service issues in a professional and timely manner.
Business Development
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand services, markets, and revenue streams.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and long-term business growth initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing and customer retention strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and market developments.
Administration and Reporting
  • Prepare and provide operational, financial, safety, and management reports as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure appropriate documentation practices are followed.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards consistent with Company objectives.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of Company information.
Asset and Resource Management
  • Oversee the effective utilization and protection of Company assets, including aircraft, equipment, facilities, vehicles, and technology.
  • Support maintenance planning and operational readiness in cooperation with maintenance and flight operations personnel.
  • Ensure resources are allocated effectively to support operational requirements.
General Duties
  • Perform all duties honestly, diligently, competently, and in the best interests of the Company.
  • Comply with all Company policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Maintain professional conduct in all business dealings.
  • Perform such additional duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be assigned from time to time by the Company and which are consistent with the nature and seniority of the position.
