Job summary

Barricades and Signs Ltd in Winnipeg, Manitoba is seeking a General Labourer to support the installation of guard rail, cable barrier, and other safety systems on construction sites. You will work closely with site superintendents and foremen to help complete projects safely and efficiently.

Applicants should have prior labour experience in construction, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work evenings or weekends as needed. Outdoor work in all weather is required.

Responsibilities

• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections on vehicles and trailers.
• Secure cargo and heavy equipment on trucks.
• Safely drive to infrastructure job sites around Winnipeg.
• Operate hand and power tools (drills, skid steers, etc.).
• Assist with loading/unloading construction materials.
• Follow directions from site superintendent and safety protocols.
• Attend daily safety meetings and complete hazard assessments.
• Maintain a clean and organized work site, proper material storage.
• Report incidents to health and safety or site supervisor.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a vital member of our operations team, we are looking to add a General Labourer to aid in the installation of guard rail, cable barrier, and other safety systems. Working closely with the Site Superintendents and Foreman, the General Labourer will play a vital role in supporting project completion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete pre and post trip inspections on vehicles and trailers
• Secure cargo and heavy equipment to flat deck and double drop deck trucks
• Safely drive and operate vehicles out to infrastructure job sites throughout the city
• Operate various hand and power tools; including drills, skid steers, etc.
• Assist operators in loading and unloading construction materials from trucks both manually and utilizing the use of equipment
• Execute daily work under the direction of the site superintendent
• Participate in daily safety meetings and fill out hazard assessments
• Maintain a clean work site by handling materials and storing them properly
• Report incidents immediately to health and safety or site supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous labour experience in a construction environment
• Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract
• Ability to work evening and weekends when required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
