Job summary

Barricades and Signs Ltd. is seeking a Traffic Control Person (Flagger) to manage traffic flow and safety in work zones across Western Canada.

The role involves setting up zones, adjusting equipment, and coordinating with crew to protect workers and the public. Applicants should have construction experience, be able to work flexible hours, and possess a valid provincial driver’s license with a clean record; drug and alcohol testing may be required.

Qualifications

  • Construction experience preferred.
  • Flexible schedules.
  • Ability to communicate with project team members to ensure tasks are executed in a timely manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid provincial driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Gives traffic control directions and signals clearly and precisely so that motorists understand their meaning.
  • Effectively conducts traffic control at worksites within the abilities and experience of the training provided to protect workers, the public, and our employees.
  • Ensures traffic control capabilities meet or exceed requirements for quality, delivery, safety, and responsiveness.
  • Attends health and safety toolbox/tailgate meetings as required to discuss matters related to the worksite and work to conduct.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to de-escalate public frustrations.
  • Assists with the setup and tear down of the signs, delineation of equipment, and traffic control procedures, along with other related duties, as required.
  • Understand the demands of provincial and local regulations related to traffic control.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  • Be readily available to work a variety of hours including nights, weekends, holidays and early mornings.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a member of our operations team, the Traffic Control Person (Flagger) ensures the safety and flow of traffic in work zones. They are responsible for setting up traffic control zones, adjusting work zone equipment, and responding to emergencies and hazards. Their role is vital for the company as it safeguards the safety of workers, the public, and our employees. They also play a critical role in upholding quality, delivery, safety, and responsiveness requirements, ensuring that the company's operations run smoothly and without incidents
