Job summary

Edison Properties is seeking a full-time General Labourer to support operations at our Winnipeg apartments, including Fort Garry Place. The role requires teamwork, initiative, and adherence to safety rules while performing hands-on maintenance tasks and equipment handling.

Responsibilities include waste removal, site upkeep, and occasional moving of heavy items, with weekend rotation and outdoor year-round work. A valid driver’s license and at least 1 year of operator experience are required.

Qualifications

• Operator experience (min. 1 year) is required.
• Valid Driver’s License is required; truck and trailer experience preferred.
• Ability to work outside year-round in all weather conditions.
• Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to health and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Daily garbage and recycling bin removal and maintenance.
• Operate equipment and perform scrap metal runs.
• Support with moving company furniture and cleaning/organization of maintenance shops.
• Clean pond and move machinery/equipment as needed.
• Assist with snow removal and weekend availability.

Job description

Edison Properties is a property management company that has been in business for over 50 years providing apartments for rent ranging from cozy and comfortable bachelor apartments to luxurious penthouse suites in the Winnipeg market. We are seeking a full-time General Labourer to take up manual labor tasks and support operations in the worksites of our apartments located at Fort Garry Place. This role will involve working in a team and in collaboration with other trades and staff. Customer service, proactive communication, taking initiative, and team playing will be necessary for success in this role, in addition to technical knowledge.

Responsibilities Include:

• Daily:
  • Garbage bin removal and maintenance
  • Recycling bin removal and maintenance
  • Equipment operator
  • Scrap metal runs
• As needed:
  • Support with moving of company furniture
  • Cleaning and maintenance of maintenance shops (FGP)
  • Putting away and organization of maintenance shops (FGP)
  • Cleaning pond
  • Moving machinery and equipment
  • Supporting the moving of equipment in the Assiniboine Athletic Club (AAC)
  • Snow removal
• Availability to work weekends (bi-weekly rotation) is required
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Operator experience (min. 1 year of experience)
• Education: High diploma is considered an asset
• Valid Driver’s License is required ( Experience driving a truck and trailer is preferred
• Ability to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb a ladder and crawl
• Ability to stand or walk for long hours of the day
• Ability to work outside year-round in all weather conditions
• Additional physical requirements will include frequent lifting and/or moving up to 11 kilograms and occasional lifting and/or moving up 50 kilograms
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Commitment to providing outstanding customer service
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to adhering to health and safety rules
