Job summary

JD Sweid Foods Ltd. is seeking a General Labour worker to support production operations in a fast-paced plant environment in Waterloo, Canada. You will follow SOPs, maintain safety and hygiene standards, and participate in efficient line changeovers, sorting, packing, and line checks.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of food safety and HACCP, strong math and mechanical skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team setting. Flexible hours and a focus on quality are essential.

Job description

Reporting to the Production Supervisors with direction from the Production Lead Hand, Production General Labour personnel are responsible for the efficient processing of plant products as directed by product SOP's and process requirements. All duties are performed in a safe and efficient manner. The General Labour personnel will be responsible for following established food safety and quality procedures. Provisions will be made to cover the absence of an employee in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following list of duties and responsibilities of the plant General Labour personnel is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the job described. Rather they are intended only to describe the general nature of the job.

• Ensure proper assembly of products as needed for planed production in a safe and efficient manner.
• Follow all safety, HACCP and process plans and guidelines.
• Maximize efficiencies where possible, minimize down time, efficient change-over of products and reporting mechanical problems promptly.
• Perform a variety of sorting and packing task.
• Perform line checks as needed.
• Perform all tasks to ensure compliance with specifications of the customer product.
• Adhere to food safety and HACCP principles.
• Keep work area clean, free of slip and trip hazards at all times.
• Other duties as directed by Production Lead Hands and Supervisors

Qualifications Required:

• Experience with food safety and HACCP principles
• Must be dependable and hold an above average attendance record
• Strong mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude
• Good communication skills and able to work well in a team environment
• Ability to work well under pressure and with little supervision
• Responsible to maintain a hand truck and or forklift license

Working Conditions:

• Work in cold or wet and slippery plant conditions for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work flexible hours
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment
