Job summary

Gate Gourmet in Vancouver is hiring a Cook to ensure timely, proper and efficient preparation of all menu items for high-volume catering. You will work with various modern kitchen equipment and uphold strict food safety standards.

The role requires 1 year of cooking experience, 2 years in Asian/Chinese cuisine, and the ability to work schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. In-person work with room for growth within a global organisation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year cooking experience in a hotel kitchen/restaurant or high-volume catering environment.
  • Minimum 2 years or more of Asian/Chinese cuisine cooking experience.
  • Must obtain and maintain Transport Canada Security Clearance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and meet schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all food items according to menu specifications, recipes and passenger load requirements.
  • Use raw materials efficiently to minimize wastage and maintain quality.
  • Follow the company's Food Safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Ensure consistent food quality and presentation.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly.

A Cook will be required to:
  • Responsible for timely, proper, and efficient preparation of all food items according to the correct menu specifications, recipes, and passenger load requirements.
  • Ensure the proper use of raw materials in a continuous effort to keep wastage to a minimum.
  • Comply with and practice the company’s established Food Safety policy and procedures.
  • Assuring that the quality standards of the food is maintained at all times
  • Have basic knowledge, experience, and skills to work with various modern kitchen equipment – Rational Oven, Fryer, Steam Kettles, Char Broiler, Flat top Stove, Gas range etc.
  • Work safely at all times, respecting specified rules and regulations while adhering to specific customer guidelines.
Job Specific Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year cooking experience in a hotel kitchen/restaurant or manufacturing high volume catering environment
  • Minimum 2 years or more of Asian/Chinese cuisine cooking experience
  • Manage your time and prioritize tasks in a fast paced, time sensitive kitchen environment
  • Obtain and maintain, a Transport Canada Security Clearance
