Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Accountant of the activity, the accountant is responsible for providing support to the Finance department. This position works closely with both the regional offices as well as the Head Office Accounting team, to ensure all transactions are handled in a timely and professional manner. The General Accountant will additionally deal with highly confidential information, in compliance with local privacy legislation and company policy.

Main Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the General Accountant include, but are not limited to:

  1. Working with Senior Accountant of the activity to process transactions as directed.
  2. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial close, reporting and general ledger reconciliation ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  3. Prepare and submit weekly reports as needed.
  4. Strong knowledge of Manufacturing Environment ERP system as related to accounting.
  5. Experience in Cost accounting in manufacturing or construction related activity.
  6. Analyzing and posting accounting transactions into accounting system as directed.
  7. Advanced Microsoft Excel skill, will be responsible for maintaining various excel data spread sheets, including updating and validating information as directed.
  8. Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
  9. Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
  10. Other Accounting and Administration duties as required.

Technical Knowledge
  1. Proven Accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment
  2. Strong knowledge of Financial and Cost Accounting principles
  3. Advanced excel skill, competence in MS office and software systems in manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 2+ years of staff accountant experience in manufacturing
  2. Enrolled in CPA program (Good to have)

Working Conditions
  1. Overtime as required.

  5. Must comply with all company policies.
  6. In town work, limited to no travel.
Compensation

The anticipated hourly wage for this position is minimum $30. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
