With offices in Canada, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, we are continuously expanding—along with our team. As part of this growth, we are recruiting a Gas Process Engineer .
In this role, you will be responsible for the development, design, and optimisation of systems related to green hydrogen and ammonia production, focusing on water treatment processes, electrolysis technologies, and the Haber-Bosch process. You will create process documentation, support engineering phases, and contribute to plant layout and conceptual design using industry-standard tools.

Responsibilities
Process design and engineering
- Develop and update process flow diagrams (PFDs), block flow diagrams (BFDs), layouts, and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Create and review mass and energy balances for hydrogen and ammonia production processes
- Design and evaluate water treatment systems, including pre-treatment, demineralisation, and wastewater treatment to support electrolyser operation
- Support the design and integration of electrolyser systems (PEM, alkaline, SOEC, and AEM)
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to process optimisation
- Provide technical input related to the Haber-Bosch process for green ammonia production
- Optimise process conditions (pressure, temperature, catalysts) to support performance and energy efficiency
- Assist in defining equipment specifications for compressors, converters, heat exchangers, and ammonia separators
Layout and site development
- Contribute to site layout planning, including safety distances, utility zoning, and equipment arrangement, in line with NFPA, AIChE, and API guidelines
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and civil teams to support integrated layout design
Engineering tools and software
- Use engineering design and simulation tools, including Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS or gPROMS for process simulation
- Use AutoCAD, AVEVA Diagrams or EPLAN for drafting
- Use Microsoft Visio, Excel or SmartPlant for layouts and documentation
- Carry out feasibility studies, design calculations, and preliminary equipment sizing
Technical support and documentation
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including design reports, technical specifications, and data sheets
- Support the preparation of tender packages, vendor evaluations, and construction documentation
- Liaise with suppliers, consultants, and internal teams to align technical solutions
Compliance and safety
- Ensure that process designs comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Contribute to hazard identification (HAZID), hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies, and risk assessments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, renewable energy engineering, or a related field
- Experience in industrial water treatment, electrolysis, and ammonia synthesis technologies
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, API, ISO, ASME)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across project teams
