The Process Engineer will implement World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects, production and processing methods, and controls to meet customer quality standards in a manner consistent with CertainTeed Gypsum's Vision, Mission, Values, and Objectives (VMVO). Utilizing WCM principles, this position will focus on product formulation, process development and optimization, equipment design and optimization, general project engineering, and trial planning and execution.
- Analyzes process variations; develops solutions and implements corrective actions using advanced statistical tools to identify and resolve root causes of variations, and participates in resolving critical process and product problems with customers and vendors.
- Designs and develops new process systems, revises existing processes, and develops and coordinates project implementation to enhance plant profitability.
- Interacts with teams for operational troubleshooting, process improvement projects, production material requirements, raw material availability, and Quality Step Zero requirements. Uses WCM tools and philosophy to analyze data, prepare diagrams, and flow charts for efficient equipment operation.
- Collaborates with consultants and suppliers to ensure system and product compatibility for process improvements.
- Develops and promotes innovative processes and equipment concepts, including follow-through on ROI, patents, and proprietary IP.
- Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions, and leads corrective action implementation.
- Organizes and initiates run trials to evaluate equipment, process, and raw material opportunities.
- Responsible and accountable for BOM integrity, including usage and deviations analysis.
What do you bring?
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or similar; or five (5) years of equivalent training and experience in process control technology.
- Five to ten (5-10) years of professional process experience in manufacturing.
- Two to three (2-3) years in project management and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with product formulation, water and foam chemistries, mass & energy balance, flow diagrams, P&ID, fluid properties, and thermodynamics.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical tools for variation reduction.
- Strong communication skills, team-oriented, and leadership capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
