Job summary

Whispering Pines Landscaping in Ontario is seeking Gardening Crew Members to join our award-winning team. You’ll care for residential and commercial landscapes, learn from experienced horticultural professionals, and contribute to outdoor projects across changing seasons.

This seasonal role starts in September 2026 and continues through mid-November, with the possibility to transition into our Snow & Ice Division for year-round employment.

Qualifications

• Passion for gardening and working outdoors.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn new horticultural skills and techniques.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, kneel, and work outdoors all day.
• Experience in gardening/landscaping is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain residential and commercial gardens to a high standard.
• Plant annuals, perennials, shrubs, grasses and trees.
• Weed, edge, deadhead, prune, and shape plants seasonally.
• Apply mulch, compost, fertilizers, and soil amendments.
• Water gardens and monitor plant health.
• Identify weeds and pests, and report to Crew Leader.
• Assist with seasonal garden enhancements and fall cleanups.
• Operate hand tools and power equipment safely.
• Load/unload plants and materials, keep trucks organized.
• Keep job sites clean, safe, and professional.
• Provide friendly, professional service when interacting with clients.
• Work outdoors in varying weather with a supportive team.

Working alongside experienced horticultural professionals, you'll help maintain and enhance stunning residential and commercial properties while developing your gardening skills in a supportive team environment.

Start Date: September 2026

What You'll Do

Every day brings something new! As a Gardening Crew Member, you'll help care for beautiful landscapes by:

• Maintaining residential and commercial gardens to the highest standard
• Planting annuals, perennials, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and trees
• Weeding, edging, deadheading, pruning, and shaping plants throughout the season
• Applying mulch, compost, fertilizers, and soil amendments
• Watering gardens and monitoring plant health
• Identifying weeds, pests, and plant concerns and communicating them to your Crew Leader
• Assisting with seasonal garden enhancements and fall cleanups
• Operating hand tools and power equipment safely, including hedge trimmers, blowers, cultivators, and pruners
• Loading and unloading plants, materials, and equipment while helping keep trucks and trailers organized
• Maintaining clean, safe, and professional job sites
• Providing friendly, professional service while interacting with clients
• Working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions as part of a supportive, hardworking team

• A valid G Driver's Licence is considered an asset

Seasonal Position with Year-Round Opportunity

This position begins in September and runs through mid-November, when our Gardening Division wraps up for the season.

Employees who are interested in continuing to work have the opportunity to transition into our Snow & Ice Management Division, providing year-round employment through the winter months.
