Job summary

Gardenworks Ltd. in Nanaimo is seeking a knowledgeable and friendly garden enthusiast to join our team. This part-time role is hands-on across all departments of the garden centre, ideal for plant lovers who enjoy helping people in a busy indoor/outdoor retail setting.

You will assist guests with plant selections, maintain displays, operate the cash register, and support the team through peak seasons. Weekend availability is required, with compensation starting at $19.00 per hour.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, indoor/outdoor retail environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Assist guests in finding the right plants and products for their gardens and projects
• Share your plant knowledge to help customers make confident, informed choices
• Maintain department presentation — watering, deadheading, tidying, and stocking
• Operate our point-of-sale system Receive and merchandise incoming product
• Support your team across departments as needed throughout the season

WHAT YOU BRING

• A genuine interest in plants and gardening — you don't need to know everything, but you should love learning
• Some working knowledge of gardening & lifestyle
• A friendly, approachable manner with customers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, indoor/outdoor retail environment in all weather
• Comfortable with physical tasks — lifting, bending, and being on your feet throughout your shift
• Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
• Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset

AVAILABILITY

This is a part-time position that could lead to full-time. Weekend and holiday availability is required.
Compensation starting at $19.00/hr
