Job summary

West Coast Gardens is seeking a hands-on Plant Specialist to maintain our trees, shrubs, and perennials in the retail garden centre. The role focuses on plant care, merchandising, and maintaining strong displays, working independently and with the team to keep the nursery looking its best.

This position is ideal for someone with horticulture or garden centre experience who enjoys being outdoors, staying active, and taking pride in well-maintained plants and displays.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in landscaping, a nursery, or garden centre.
• Strong plant knowledge and passion for horticulture.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a physically active role, standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Reliable transportation is recommended as the location is not accessible by bus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the health and presentation of trees, shrubs, and perennials.
• Water, prune, deadhead, and care for plants to ensure they remain healthy and retail-ready.
• Work with both indoor and outdoor teams to ensure displays are compelling and consistently maintained.
• Assist the Retail Manager in maintaining seasonal outdoor displays and merchandising standards.
• Help customers when needed and ensure friendly, helpful service in the garden centre.

Location: South Surrey – West Coast Gardens

Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm | 30–40 hoursper week

Pay: $18-20/hr

Duration: March–June (possibility to continue into summer season)
