Job summary

Overhead Door Corporation in Kelowna is seeking a Garage Door Installer Helper to join a two-person crew, supporting installation and service of residential or commercial doors. You will learn on the job from the Garage Door Technician and contribute to quality workmanship.

This permanent full-time role offers safety training, CDI certification opportunities, and a path for advancement within a COR-certified workplace. Training is provided to build a long-term career with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum 3–6 months’ experience in a relevant trade (construction, welding, millwright, etc.).
• Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
• WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid or related safety training are assets.

We have an immediate opening for an Garage Door Installer Helper located in the Kelowna branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Helper will work as part of a two-person crew, this position will assist in the service and/or installation of residential or commercial doors while learning on the job from the Garage Door Technician. This role is a permanent, full time position with opportunities for advancement.

• Regular interaction with warehouse staff, construction Project Managers, customers other trades and safety personnel
• Taking direction from Garage Door Technician and providing support
• Actively participating in learning the trade
• General warehouse duties
• Other duties, as assigned

Skills

• Possessing resourcefulness, integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment
• Comfortable with heights (ladders & lifts)
• Above average mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of overhead doors, sectional, rolling steel, high speed or specialty doors would be considered an asset
• Intention to learn the trade and progress to Overhead Door Technician certification

Qualifications

• Any relevant safety training and tickets is an asset. (WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid, etc.)
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to work outside in all different weather conditions, including cold and extreme heat. Lifting, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, lying down, squatting and kneeling and managing equipment and tools required
• Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements including drug, alcohol and health assessment
• New hire candidates will be required to provide a current Driver’s Abstract at their own cost
