Job summary

Dodds Garage Doors in Cambridge, ON seeks an experienced Commercial Garage Door Technician / Installer (Lead Hand) to lead on-site service, installation, and repairs for commercial doors and gates. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, mentor junior technicians, and ensure safety and documentation standards while delivering excellent customer service.

You will be responsible for leading by example in a fast-paced environment and coordinating emergency service rotations as needed,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an Overhead Door Technician.
• Comfort and experience with electrical work.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair commercial overhead doors, openers, and barrier gates.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
• Lead by example—supporting and mentoring technicians while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
• Perform daily duties safely and efficiently, including work at heights and physical tasks.
• Conduct site assessments and ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
• Participate in an emergency service rotation as required.

A Day in the Life of a Commercial Lead Hand

Each day brings variety and challenge as you:

• Install, service, and repair commercial overhead doors, openers, and barrier gates
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
• Lead by example—supporting and mentoring technicians while maintaining high quality and safety standards
• Perform daily duties safely and efficiently, including work at heights and physical tasks
• Conduct site assessments and ensure documentation is accurate and complete
• Participate in an emergency service rotation as required
• Deliver excellent customer service on every call

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience as an Overhead Door Technician
• Comfort and experience with electrical work

• Safe driver’s abstract and clean criminal record
