Job summary

Image Engine, a Vancouver-based VFX studio, seeks an FX Department Supervisor to lead the FX team on feature and TV shows. You will mentor artists, collaborate with VFX and CG leads, and drive technical strategies that meet client briefs within tight schedules.

The role emphasizes strong Houdini expertise, leadership, and cross-department collaboration to deliver high-quality FX quickly and reliably.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of feature film / TV production experience as an FX artist.
• Minimum 2 years experience as an FX Lead.

Responsibilities

• Lead FX artists and FX Leads on assigned shows.
• Assist CG supervisor and ensure FX tasks align with studio standards.
• Mentor FX leads and artists; provide feedback and time management guidance.
• Define and enforce FX standards and working practices across projects.
• Collaborate with VFX/CG supervisors to meet client FX briefs.
• Estimate task timing and manage show schedule with production coordinators.
