Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking a Transfer Specialist in Quebec to care for deceased individuals, remove and transport them, and operate company vehicles safely and courteously. The role requires professional appearance when contacting families and flexibility for on-call shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities include handling chain-of-possession documentation, coordinating with first responders and hospitals, and maintaining vehicles and records in line with company procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid provincial driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• At least 1 year of professional experience as courier, driver or with direct customer interaction.
• Ability to work weekends, nights and holidays on rotation.
• Ability to lift up to 35 kg (75 lbs); push/pull up to 90 kg (200 lbs).
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Transport the company-owned vehicles safely to perform transport of deceased persons, in compliance with local and national laws and company policies.
• Follow processes related to chain of possession, documentation, and identification of deceased persons.
• Cooperate with first responders, the coroner, hospital staff or elder care facilities and adapt to their processes and procedures.
• Interact with grieving family members in a courteous, professional manner during home transports; show sensitivity to surroundings.
• Follow company procedures for removing soiled clothing or linens; leave a warm and courteous first impression.
• Enter information about incidents involving deceased persons into the proprietary software according to company procedures.
• Transport caskets at airports, service centers or funeral homes; assist with moving caskets if needed.
• Maintain vehicles (cleaning, vacuuming, fueling) and follow safety directives; stock PPE and cleaning supplies.
• Identify engine or operation problems with the vehicles and coordinate with management for repairs or inspections.
